Ashlee Esplen, PTA, MS, LMT

Ms. Esplen is Professor and Academic Clinical Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program and Program Coordinator of the Certificate Massage Therapy Program at Butler County Community College (BC3), Butler, PA. She received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Physical Therapy from Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC)/Boyce Campus, Monroeville, PA and a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Professional Leadership from Carlow College, Pittsburgh, PA. Ms. Esplen has extensive training in massage: first by obtaining a Certificate in Massage from CCAC and secondly by adding certifications in Myofascial Release, Reflexology, Pregnancy and Infant massage, Geriatric massage Level I, Reiki Level I, and Chair massage.

Ms. Esplen has completed a 17-year teaching and clinical career by having begun her journey working as a physical therapist assistant (PTA) and by later attaining her goal of becoming a teacher of physical therapist assistants. She is genuinely interested in helping physical therapist assistant students and PTA clinicians learn how to expand their skills and education within the health care arena by making themselves more viable and marketable.


Ms. Esplen is an experienced speaker and has held various leadership positions throughout APTA, including national and chapter elected positions and district committees over the past 17 years. Teaching students goal planning by expanding upon current skills, mentoring, and volunteering are her passions.
